Today some athletes thake illegal substances to improve their performance; this is CHEATING.

WHY DO SPORTS PEOPLE USE DRUGS?

Today there are some athletes very competitive. Today it's very harder to get to the top and so the temptation to take drug to the win. Before some athletes ate a honey as stimulant. Today only stimulants are banned to the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

TESTING FOR DOPING

In 2012, during Olympic Games in London, the IOC tested over 3.000 athletes and 30 athletes was squalified and they lost their medals.

BEN JOHNSON

He is the most famous athlete to use drug in modern time. In 1988 he won the 100 m race at the Seoul Olympic Games. After the race tests showed that he had anabolic steroids in his body. He lost his gold medal.

LANCE ARMSTRONG

He was the best American cyclist. He won the Tour the France seven times between 1999 and 2005. In 2013 he admitted that he used drugs and blood doping to help him to win.

KNUD ENEMARK JENSEN

During the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome Knud Enemark died after 100km race. In his body, doctors found amphetamines. Amphetamines are very dangerous for the body and after Jensen's death the IOC started to test athletes for them.
